Melanie, thanks for this. I’ve had Sophia House and Cry of Stone on my shelf for too long. I really liked Father Elijah and O’Brien’s other books. Funny, just this morning I walked past that shelf and saw Sophia House still in the shrink wrap(!!) and felt such a pang of guilt!
I think Sophia House was incredibly moving in terms of Pawel’s pain and perspective. I think you might like Fr. Elijah more now, knowing Elijah/David through Pawel.
And, the “little soul” in A Cry of Stone was pretty amazing, too.
I do love Fr. Elijah, though … it’s reversed for me … now I’m feeling like I need to go back and reread the others.

Lissa, I know your to-be-read pile is a mile high; but seriously, go. Go read them now. You won’t be disappointed. Those are the best ones.

Eclipse of the Sun is next in my queue but after that I’ll definitely re-read Father Elijah.
