Just got back from the old apartment with another load of stuff. This time we retrieved the contents of the refrigerator and freezer.
While we were loading the boxes full of food, Bella kept squeezing in to see what we were doing, as she usually does when the fridge is open. She pushed up against me as I emptied the crisper drawer and murmured, “Yummy, yummy. Mama, yummy, yummy.” Busy filling boxes and anxious to do so quickly and get on the road before the freezer items began to defrost, I ignored her for the moment.
But evidently she decided to take matters into her own hands. A few seconds later I looks up and saw that she’d grabbed an apple from the drawer I’d been unloading and had taken a bite out of it. Problem solved.
She’s been rejecting all my attempts to feed her apple slices and doesn’t really like apple sauce that much. But I guess the allure of self sufficiency finally won her over.
She munched on it all the way home and when we got here we parked her in the highchair to finish it while we unloaded the car and stocked the fridge. She started biting off the skin and spitting it out, making a huge mess all down the front of her shirt; but she did quite a bit of damage to that apple before she got tired of it.
