Summer Night

Summer Night

Today was the coolest day we’ve had in a long time. We opened all the windows and let the breeze blow through. After we’d tucked the girls into bed I sat down in the living room and the fan was off for once and through the open window I could hear the most beautiful chorus: crickets and cicadas and peepers. I’ve heard the crickets and cicadas before but this is the first time I’ve heard the little peepers. They somehow thrilled my heart. I closed my eyes and just listened, the sound was like a cool drink of water or an unexpected nibble of chocolate. Soon after that the rain began. First soft patter and then louder and louder and soon the chorus faded and now all I can hear is rain, soft and sweet. It will be a lovely sound to sleep to.

  • That is a GORGEOUS picture of the beach.  I didn’t flip through all the others, but I can imagine that being a place I’d love to visit.  How fun that you are so spontaneous smile

Good luck to you with Bella’s questions.  Mia’s been in this phase for months now and I find myself wanting a roll of duct tape every now and then.  It feels so good to say JUST BECAUSE THAT’S HOW IT IS!  But, then I feel bad about crushing her enthusiasm….oh the perils of parenting smile
