Our Anniversary Dinner

Our Anniversary Dinner

Tonight my sister and dad graciously watched the girls and fed them dinner while Dom and I snuck off for some sushi. (With Ben in tow.) Ben was very nice and slept through it all. Didn’t start crying until Dom was signing the check.

This was some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. We went to Fuji  in Quincy, a very modest looking establishment; at first glance I had some serious doubts. But Dom had done his homework and read the reviews and this was indeed the place to go.

We started with an amazingly good miso soup, perfectly balanced. Then beef tataki, thin sliced seared beef served over shredded daikon radish with a wonderful sauce that somehow made it taste more beefy. Then a selection of sushi and makimono. I had my standards negihama (yellowtail with scallions) and maguro (tuna) and I tied some of the various things Dom ordered too. Everything was wonderful, surprisingly good with unique twists like the tempura in the spicy tuna that gave it just the right crunch and flavor of fried yumminess. In fact the sushi was so good, I decided to go back for more. The waitress talked us into trying three more items from the day’s specials: peppery tuna, lightly seared with fresh ground pepper; a spicy tuna special made with rice paper and asparagus; and a red and white roll that had two kinds of tuna and little slices of jalapeno. Oh yeah it was sushi heaven.

Dom took some great photos. I’m too lazy to copy and paste them.
