Finally, a sunny day! We’ve been inundated with April showers all this week. Yesterday the sun broke through a couple of times; but it was generally gray gloom and mud. Though I did notice new blooms in the front bed when I ducked out yesterday afternoon. I snapped a picture of them this morning when we got home. Grape hyacinth, I think?
After Mass the sun was so lovely the girls and I didn’t even go into the house. We lingered in the front yard looking at the new flowers and the buds that promise even more flowers and then went around back by way of the gate. My sister held Sophie’s hands as she toddled around the yard, pulling petals off my precious daffodils and examining the new buds on twigs.
And toddled and toddled and toddled.
Bella and I investigated some fascinating fungus growing on a tree stump.
Then Sophie had a nice little ride in the swing. After a bit we tried to take her in, thinking she’d want some lunch. What followed was a full-on temper tantrum as she threw herself onto the dining room floor sobbing with tears rolling down her cheeks. Fine, back out to the swing. Where she nodded off for about half an hour.
Bella and my sister lounged on the grass and had snacks.
And then Bella helped daddy pick up sticks. Then it was really time for lunch and then naps.
Now I’m off to do a bit of sewing. I think I’ll finally cut out the binding strips and finish off Sophie’s baby quilt. So I can get to work on a baby quilt for Benedict.
It’s so nice when someone understands your geeky explanations (says someone else who makes them.)
