Someone is Coming…

Someone is Coming…

The perfect nativity story book for Isabella arrived in the mail this week: Who Is Coming to Our House?. Simple rhyming sentences make it a perfect read-aloud. And read it aloud we have. She can handle ten or twelve times in a sitting (probably more, but that’s about mommy’s limit).

The animals in the stable clean up and prepare to welcome their visitors, pausing to ask: “Who is coming?” Finally, Mary and Joseph arrive, a very pregnant Mary seated on a donkey, and then the animals welcome them as a barefoot Mary snuggles her newborn baby.

Bella loves identifying all the animals and the sounds they make and saying hi to baby Jesus at the end. I enjoy the refrain: someone’s coming, who is coming? I think the book perfectly captures the meaning of Advent for toddlers, children and adults: preparing our dwelling to welcome the newborn king.
