Bella loves dogs. I’ve probably mentioned that before. This morning she was having a crying fit. Frustrated because the plastic toy phone receiver was connected to the busy box by a cord, I think.
Anyway, I wanted to distract her so I scooped her up and carried her over to the bookcase and quickly scanned the shelves for a book. I saw this book, Riptide, which I’d scooped up at a Friends of the Library book sale last summer and remembered it was about a dog. That should do the trick, I thought. Sure enough, every page had a picture of the dog on it. She was in heaven. We flipped through the book a dozen times. I tried to put it back on the shelf and she tugged it back off. Looks like she’s got a new friend.
It’s really a sweet story about a boy and his beach-loving, life-saving dog, who has the improbable name of Riptide Windjammer. And there are lovely paintings of the Cape Cod shore. I’m so glad I picked this one up, though at the time I little knew what a treasure I’d found.
Hooray, hooray, hooray! This is the perfect post to read while listening to joyous fireworks booming in the distance!
What a beautiful post!
I loved how NFP let me know that we were expecting babies 2-4 (because I had given up hope when #1 was conceived, on December 8. Shows what I know, oh me of little faith!!). Sadly, I needed a hysterectomy soon after our fourth child was born. His Will be done. Even as it still stings.
June 9 was my 17th wedding anniversary, so now I aehv even more reasons to pray for you and this littlest one.
Congratulations Melanie!
Congratulations, Melanie! Oh, happy day!
