Books Finished in March:
1. The Liars’ Club: A Memoir by Mary Karr
I’m glad I finished The Liar’s Club. Though I rather wish I’d read Mary Karr’s trio of memoirs in chronological order instead of backwards.
2. Three Men In A Boat (To Say Nothing Of The Dog…) by Jerome K. Jerome
Finally finished. Now I want to go back and re-read To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis.
3. Dreamers, Discoverers & Dynamos: How to Help the Child Who Is Bright, Bored and Having Problems in School (Formerly Titled ‘The Edison Trait’) by Lucy Jo Palladino PhD
Book notes here.
Books Currently in Progress:
1. The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky
If I haven’t finished as many books this month as I might have it’s because I’m really trying not to be distracted from The Brothers Karamazov. I’ve made pretty good headway, am on page 360 and am pretty confident that this time I’m going to make it to the end.
I’m reading the Constance Garnett Translation (Norton Critical Editions). This is the copy I bought for the Russian novel class I dropped at midterms my junior year in college. (Not because it was a bad class, the opposite in fact—but because I was over-scheduled and it was my one elective.) The Anchoress recently posted about a new translation that she’s reading.
I’ll write more about The Brothers K. later. Right now I just want to get this post finished since it’s already the third of April.
2. Tending the Heart of Virtue: How Classic Stories Awaken a Child’s Moral Imagination by Vigen Guroian
This one was suggested by Katherine of evlogia. I hope to write up book notes later.
3. Women, Sex, and the Church: A Case for Catholic Teaching by Erika Bachiochi.
I plan to write up my notes for this one soon.
Maybe I will record his snores. I think my iPhone can do that…
Charlotte, I wouldn’t be surprised. Everyone thinks all my kids look like me. But all I see is Anthony.
Wonderful!!
So, so cute. Thank you for sharing him with us
That picture of him on your shoulder with his cheek all smooshed up against you is pure gold. I love it nine times.
I just love babies and the joy they bring to their families…..can’t get enough!
He’s just the sweetest thing.
Oh not us, we can take a lot of baby cuteness. What do you think we read your blog for!!
And you have a newborn and are reading The Brothers Karamazov???? Are you serious???!!! You are amazing!
Beautiful. Love it! Although I have a hard time imagining loud snores coming out of that little cutie.
He is adorable! I love baby snores… they crack me up!
You are going to have to record some of those cute snores. The snoring and the bald spot sure make him sound like a little old man. Maybe he just has a wise, old soul! He seems to resemble you quite a bit in the face. In a couple of those photos I saw it. What do you think?
I can certainly never have enough baby cuteness. The biggest reason I was sorry to miss the Mother’s Day Away was being able to see all the sweet babies!
