True confession time: I’ve been kind of dreading the return to Ordinary Time. I love singing the Regina Caeli so much. Love it love it love it. I didn’t want to give up the pretty chant, letting my voice soar to heaven with the glorious alleluias, in exchange for the ho-hum boring spoken Angelus.
But today my phone started ringing, cathedral bells letting me know it’s noon and as I started in with “The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary…” suddenly I felt a mantle of grace wrapped around me. A deep sense of peace. Homecoming. It is good to be here. Perhaps Ordinary Time isn’t so ordinary after all.
What a great story!
I’m having so much fun reading these stories this morning. I love how down-to-earth and practical this is.
Very sweet. Tried to go over to compare your stories, but the link to Dom’s post isn’t working…
Thanks for the heads-up, Melody. I’ve fixed the link now.
It might not have been the plan, but how wonderfully sweet that he boosted you up through the window.. and then proposed on the kitchen floor. There is something so seet in a man proposing to you at a moment where you show your flaws.
That is a sweet story and it’s yours!
As a fellow cerebral woman, I absolutely loved this post.
I think the most interesting stories are the ones when the “perfect” proposal never happened. Reality is more perfect anyway.
I love it! It’s a wonderful story! Thanks for sharing.
This is such a fun link-up. Love your story!
Melanie, you’re a natural storyteller. I loved this.
p.s. My word verification was love96.
That ring was burning a hole in my pocket for days. You think I could have waited another whole 24 hours?
I did forget all about the talk on the sidewalk and my initial proposal. Thank you for not mentioning my “joking” proposal when I was high on caffeine. I will be sure to teach my sons: Proposals are never a joking matter.
The best part is that the story is just like us: a mixture of practical and sentimental, romantic and down to earth.
I LOVE this story!!
Melanie, I love your story! I’ve finally been inspired to jump on the engagement story bandwagon
