Dom spied an unusual bird in our tree this morning. I dove for the binoculars and spent some time trying to describe its features to him. Then I handed them off and went for the bird book. We determined that our stranger was a Northern Flicker Woodpecker. The first time I’ve seen one of those. I’m giddy as my kids facing an unopened present.
Dom says he’s beginning to understand the appeal of birdwatching.
