Reading Bella her naptime story. Sophie insists on climbing into Bella’s bed with her. Bella sits with her pillow propped against the headboard, blankets drawn over her lap, and turns the pages of a picture book while I read Pooh. Sophie settles herself with her back to the wall at the side of the bed, pulls a blanket over her lap and tries to grab Bella’s book. To quash the outbreak that ensues, I hand her a board book from the box near my feet. She grins a toothy grin at me as she reaches for the book. Then gladly rearranges her blanket and begins to turn the pages of her book. When I get to the end of the Pooh story and scoop Sophie up to go take her nap in our room, she howls and protests. She wants to stay with her sister.
