All Souls Day

All Souls Day

Last year I put together this slide show in honor of All Souls. It’s made up of photographs taken at St. Mary’s cemetery in Peabody, MA, just down the street from our apartment, and at neighboring St Thomas the Apostle church. St Mary’s is the original Catholic cemetery in this area, linked to the first Catholic parish in Massachusetts.

I make it a practice whenever I walk there with the girls to pray for all the souls of the Catholics buried there.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon them.

The music is a track called “Caoineadh na Mara / Amen” from the album Celtic Requiem by Mary McLaughlin and William Coulter.

Merciful Father, hear our prayers and console us. As we renew our faith in your Son, whom you raised from the dead, strengthen our hope that all our departed brothers and sisters will share in his resurrection, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

  • Melanie,

Did something happen to Dom’s blog?

I tried a few times, but I can’t get on it.

    Hope everything is alright.

  • Good luck to you and your family as you begin your life in a new home.

And thank you for this blog.

I have to say that as we get closer to the election and as I glance at the news sites and political blogs, I find myself in a state of nervous anxiety.

Reading about your life, your family, your day to day doings and your beautiful little girls, brings me such a sense of tranquility and normality.

    Thank you so very much.

    Delle
