If You Give a Toddler a Pancake….

If You Give a Toddler a Pancake….

She’s going to ask for maple syrup to go with it.

And if you give her maple syrup, she’s going to ask you for wallpaper.

“Wallpaper?” asks Dom, puzzled.

“Haven’t you read If You Give a Pig a Pancake?” I ask.

“No, I guess not.”

“It’s just like If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. The girl gives the pig a pancake and she asks for maple syrup. There’s a long stream of idea association and finally the pig makes a tree house and puts up wallpaper and gets sticky and being sticky reminds her of maple syrup….

So you make pancakes, Bella wants syrup, and thinks of wallpaper.”

“Oh. Cute.”

Sometimes if you have to explain, it isn’t quite as funny. Oh well.

  • We are fortunate to have a ceiling fan/light combo in our youngest child’s room…we can turn the light “off” at the light, so the switch has no effect on it…not the best for training/discipline purposes, but for now it works!

  • Cecilia and Felicity don’t share a room yet, but Cecilia turned on her bedroom light at 5:30 this morning. I tried to get her back to sleep, but when she decided she simply needed to change pajamas, she turned it on again, this time about 6am.

After a long night with Felicity working on her top two front teeth and waking every two hours, your post made me smile this morning. Thanks.
