Some of my favorites from the past week.

Lovely flowers from Dom’s mother. I can’t believe her, she sent these right before going into hospital herself for knee surgery!

Bella in the hospital waiting room. She loved the child-sized table and chairs. I think she spent more time her and wandering the halls than she did in my room. My room was boring.

When she was in my room, Bella wanted to sit on this chair and eat food from my tray table. If the chair had been moved, she’d put it back in place and climb up to eat whatever snacks I had handy and to drink from my glas of water or juice. Because whatever I had had to be tastier than the snacks she’d brought with her.

Flowers from Dom’s co-workers at the Chancery welcomed me home.

  • I am likewise Introverted and yet Cecilia absorbs people like she is parched for them. Unfortunately, she does not self-entertain long unless she is on my computer playing with the Disney websites where she actually practices numbers and shapes and such. This makes her a very demanding child for my attention. I do my best but I cannot help but anticipate Felicity being old enough to be a good playmate for her. Felicity is not even 4 months old yet and yesterday Cecilia was trying to play ball with her! It will be great to see the two sisters playing together once Felicity is older.

I had never thought about though in terms of introvert/extrovert so thank you for that insight – it helps me understand her better when she is begging for attention all day.

  • I’m reading these posts and seeing myself. I hate to call and order pizza; I haven’t done it since we were married. It’s excruciating to call some relative stranger, another kid’s mom, to arrange a playdate.

I think I’m going to have to work toward a happy medium for the sake of my kids.

  • Oh yeah, I absolutely hate picking up the phone unless it’s to call a very short list of my closest family and friends. I’ve been known to put off necessary phone calls for days, weeks. Even scheduling doctor’s visits and other pretty vital tasks. I was lucky that Dom did almost all of the calling when we were planning the wedding or we might not have ever got anything arranged. We order pizza from Dominoes via their website. No phone call necessary.

  • Funny! I’m supposed to be an extrovert, but I’m just the same. I’m under instructions to make a call today that dh can’t do for me and I have been putting off – no big deal, just making a booking, but still I procrastinate. Our doctors’ surgery now has the option of an automated booking system – press 1 for an urgent appointment, 2 for a routine appointment; 1 for a doctor, 2 for a nurse; 1 to accept the appointment offered, 2 for an alternative. Bliss!

  • Well, extreme procrastination is a P characteristic. Maybe the phone thing is as much about putting it off as a shyness/introversion factor?

I wish I could schedule appts on an automated system or via internet as my mom does. That would be such a relief.

  • Hm. Perhaps your extroverted child needs to *not* be homeschooled. I’m just sayin. As an extrovert, I have to tell you that I *loved* all the people and activity of school. You could send her to Catholic school…
