Again with the snow.

Again with the snow.

Bella woke up at about 4:30 this morning for some reason, thinking it was time to get up. I changed her diaper and rocked her and sang to her and then put her back to bed. Looking out the window, I noticed that it had started to snow.

By 7:45 when she woke up again the world had been transformed. There were several inches of snow on the ground and everything was white. I opened the shade as I got her out of bed and she began to exclaim: “Hsnow! Fall! hsnow!” (No, that’s not a typo, it’s the best I can do to capture the nasal, aspirated way she says snow.)

When we took her out during the first few storms of the season in December, Bella didn’t like it at all. Now she’s become a snow lover. I brought her out this afternoon when Dom was shoveling the walk and driveway. She started to get excited as soon as I pulled out her snowsuit. Yes, she knows the words snowsuit, hat, gloves, and boots now, and requests each article be put on her. Once outside, she was quite happy toddling up and down the walk. She was ecstatic when I began making snowballs for her to play with and had a good time pushing the snow around with a little toy shovel, originally meant for beach play. She also toted around a plastic bucket full of snow for a while.

I tried to make a snowman for her, but don’t have much stamina now and gave up after the big ball I’d rolled for the base split in two. It finally stopped snowing around 3 and as dusk was falling I set out to buy some milk and juice. The world was a magic place, every tree branch cased in snow.
