Our first glimpse of what we think is Bella’s younger sister, Sophia Therese. The ultrasound tech couldn’t be certain, this very active baby might be Benedict Joseph. Either way, we’re extremely happy to see our little darling is a healthy 6 oz. with cute little hands and feet, an adorable little brain and beating heart.
To be sure, Bella wasn’t all that thrilled. She didn’t have a nap today and the ultrasound pictures aren’t the kind of thing to capture a fifteen month old’s imagination. We had a little meltdown when I went in to see the doctor. But this, too, shall pass. Eventually.
Such is the stuff of charming memories. The year ‘we’ ran out of oil on Thanksgiving with a houseful of relatives is a family legend. One that grew funnier with each passing year. (I say ‘we’ because it was in the mid-1950s and I was either not yet born or too tiny to care too much as long as I was bundled sufficiently.)
These little emergencies do make good stories… in retrospect. Right now, I’m boiling water for a sponge bath and dying for a shower. At least we don’t have house guests!
