Happy First Day of Summer!

Happy First Day of Summer!

I didn’t know today was the first day of summer when I made plans to join my sister-in-law, nieces and nephews, and a bunch of their homeschooling group for an outing at Bradley-Palmer State Park; but what a perfect way to celebrate the official beginning of the season!

The nice thing about this park is they have a huge wading pool. Perfect for all the littles. And there were a bunch of people there today. Which made my little social Bella very happy.

We had a nice picnic lunch. And I got to meet a lot of the other moms in Evy’s Catholic homeschooling group. But not talk to them at great length. I spent too much time chasing Bella around.

She’s not afraid of the water at all and waded right in to waist deep or so. And then took a tumble when some bigger kids ran past and ended up face down in the water. She recovered without too much fuss and played a bit more in the water. But it was still a bit chilly and soon her little teeth were chattering.

She spent most of the time running around and around the perimeter of the pool, stopping to greet (i.e. stare at) almost everyone she passed.

At one point she found two big beach balls that had rolled up against the fence and she started carrying them both around, one in each hand. I never did figure out who they belonged to but this is the sort of play area where toys get lost very easily. Too many kids, especially lots of kids who are too young to have a clear idea of personal property. Witness Bella’s appropriation.

A very successful day, all in all. Bella fell asleep on the way home. Poor tired little girl.
