I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you might have a tail bone injury. Which will never really go away. Anyway, you might want to look at getting a donut cushion. Also, sitting on the edge of the seat, with your back straight, helps alot—it puts your weight on your thighs and not your tailbone. That and the donut cushion really help, though, if sitting continues to be painful. Ibuprofen, too.
I know because I fell off a bunk bed in Rome, right onto my butt on the tile floor, and my keester has never been quite right since.
I think I’m lucky enough to have missed the tail bone by an inch or so. I have a big bruise, but the pain has subsided significantly it doesn’t hurt to sit or to move anymore and I don’t think there’s any further damage. Thanks be to God!
Much better, thanks. The bruise on my arm still is lovely and splotchy and the back of my head is still a little tender to the touch. But like I said, I’m a klutz and am quite used to bruises.
Glad to hear the kids have all survived their tumbles. Many thanks to their hard-working guardian angels, I’m sure. It does give me much comfort to know that kids are less fragile than my imagination makes out.

Don’t worry too much about it happening with Bella in your arms … it may, but I hope you take comfort in the fact that all of my kids have taken some kind of horrifying tumble like that (which I then relived, in slow motion, for longer than I should have ….) but all survived! Hope you’re feeling better.
I’ve done that. But I usually end up head downward on the last couple steps, not actually on the floor.
Sigh. What’s annoying is telling people where you got all those bruises, ‘cause they find it hard to believe you….
