I think the best “advice” that I have ever gotten or passed along to new mothers is: Mouth and scalp woulds bleed a LOT and if you panic, so will your child.
When my oldest was about 16 months old, she fell and bit through her bottom lip. I was pregnant with our second, so perhaps I can blame hormones on my response: I freaked. So of course Rebecca cried even harder. It took me a good hard 30 seconds which felt like a lifetime to settle down. Because of my reaction, settling Rebecca was a lot harder. Kudos on your aplomb.
