I was so busy composing my letter of complaint, that I forgot to blog it, but now I’ll tell the full story.
When I first saw on my dear fiance’s blog that some yahoo was auctioning off a consecrated host from a papal mass on eBay, I thought it was disgusting. But he often blogs about people who do stupid, disgusting stuff. What are you going to do, he’s a reporter.
But the more I thought about it, the more the depth of the offense began to settle in.
Someone was trying to sell my Lord Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. His Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity, as we’ve been telling our confirmation class all year. This is more than blasphemy. This is more than sacrilige. They are trying to sell my God!
And our just deceased Holy Father, Pope John Paul II had declared this the Year of the Eucharist, calling all Catholics to renew their devotion to Our Lord in the sacrament that is the source and summit of our faith.
